Balkan Books was born from a simple idea: to bring the stories, voices, and cultural richness of the Balkans closer to readers in the United States. As a small, husband-and-wife–run business, we pour our hearts into curating a collection that feels personal, meaningful, and deeply connected to the region we love.

What started as a shared passion for Balkan literature soon became a mission—to make it easier for people across the USA to access the books they grew up with, discover new authors, or stay connected to the language and heritage that shaped them. Every title we select is one we truly believe belongs on the shelves of anyone who cherishes Balkan storytelling.

From timeless classics and contemporary novels to children’s books, poetry, history, and cultural works, we aim to offer a thoughtful, evolving selection. We specialize in books in their original language, as well as translations of international authors into Balkan languages. We handle every step ourselves—from sourcing and importing to packaging and customer care—so that each reader receives a warm, personal experience.
